Maria: Prada's Monkey Business gets banned by buyers

Spring/Summer Collection 2011 by Prada promises to be one of the most controversial collections ever made.
The reason for it is that from the very beginning Prada was strongly advised by editors and buyers to change the entire look of the collection (or to change the prints at least) but no, collection stayed the same and even though it did get lot's of enthusiastic reviews,  lots' of buyers still  refused to buy it.
You can have a look at the collection yourself:

Or if you are too lazy to watch the entire video, just have a look at  these "scandalous" monkey and banana  prints:

Prada has always been a fashion innovator. Is it possible that this time  Prada simply  crossed the line between fashion and vulgar ? Or is it just another prove of the fact that fashion industry is about creating a product that will sell well ?

  1. I don't think there is anything wrong with a designer/label standing their ground and producing what they want their consumers to wear. Isn't that the beauty of fashion design, is that you have the freedom to create your idea of beautiful clothing? I don't find the clothing vulgar at all, actually they are true to Prada in the construction and show innovative thinking through the print. Whats the big deal? I think its adorable!! And you know what, after such a long shitty year overall, its nice to see a light hearted, colorful and whimsical collection to start the new year, moving away from the ghastly darkness.
