Hello everyone!
So today I was looking around on the internet trying to find something super juicy to share with you but I came across this amazing rant/ poem/ illustration of our concept of 'PRETTY' in modern society and how when you really observe the idea of pretty nowadays, it is actually quite ugly. I know we are supposed to present issues about fashion so here are my questions...
CAN FASHION BE PRESENTED IN A WAY THAT TRULY EMBRACES NATURAL BEAUTY??
HAVE YOU EVER FELT YOU ARE COMPROMISING YOUR INNER AND TRUE BEAUTY FOR THE SAKE OF FASHION??

“What will I be? Will I be pretty? ” Will I be pretty? Will I be pretty? What comes next? Oh right, will I be rich which is almost pretty depending on where you shop."

--This quote is very interesting, it suggests that we believe that being pretty is purchasable, and fashion sells the idea that brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada can make us pretty. I believe that the clothes are pretty but no way can wearing a $5,000 dollar dress make me any prettier than a $10 t-shirt...and lets not get started on plastic surgery, the only person you are fooling is yourself in that case. Let fashion be an extension of your beauty and not what defines you.

Feel the Romance of British Royalty...

Princess Diana Lingerie Ads In China Called 'Blatant Exploitation'

Chinese lingerie company Jealousy International has come under fire for producing a line of Princess Diana underwear, complete with ads portraying the late royal, the Daily Mail reports. British journalist Sam Chambers came across the advertisements depicting a Princess Di lookalike wearing a bra and panties in Shenzhen airport in southern China and he was appalled. He told the Mail on Tuesday, "I was just going to collect my baggage from the carousel when I saw it flash up on a rolling advertising screen and couldn't quite believe what I was seeing." He added, "It's all the more striking because today [August 31st] is the anniversary of her death."
The ad reads: "Feel the Romance of British Royalty." Different versions are plastered throughout China.
The Jealousy Group website has an entire section devoted to the new Diana line under the slogan, "Free your mind, free your style."
Shanghaiist writes that Jealousy "told China Radio International that, from the beginning, the 'Diana' line was supposed to honor Princess Diana's taste in underwear." The First Post reportsthat Clarence House, which represents Prince Charles, wouldn't comment on the advertisements. However, co-founder of the Diana Appreciation Society Alan Berry believes, "It does seem to be just blatant exploitation of a dead lady's name."

Lookchoup : I think it's kind of interesting how they presented this line...it's Diana right? Is it gonna effect british ppl who loves Diana? for me I don't really feel anything just thinking it's quite weird, I saw many lingeries ads and this one is so...different and brave LOL. Is it illegal making fun of the royal family 'cause in Thailand it is! so what you guys think? you all come from the different country maybe you have another great idea. For me I feel like thecompany maybe just don't care because they already attract the press and the (maybe) customers :)

No Anorexia!

Kanika Srisothornwongse

Photographer: Oliviero Toscani.
Model: Isabelle Caro.
Brand: Nolita

Oliviero Toscani photographed  Isabelle Caro for Nolita  naked  to create awareness of the illness in Italy. Even though fashionistas hailed the campaign as a turning point, the health experts were scared that teenage girls might want to compete and be skinny.  The owner of Nolita, Flash & Partners, funded the posters. It said that the aim of doing this campaign was to show everyone how serious the illness can be.
I think doing such campaigns are pointless and can cause an increase instead of a decrease in number. There are always other ways to show how anorexia is not only ugly but deadly.

Maria: Chloe? i dont think so...

Today i'm sharing with you  something that i found absolutely hilarious and it certainly deserves to be on "Top 5 Epic Fails  of  Fashion"  list.
Well, here is a lovely ad campaign for a new Chloe fragrance, and it's looking all great apart from one tiny detail, which is belt, and it's not bad the problem is that it's actually from YSL.
Once this campaign came out it caused a very negative feedback.
And i can totally understand why it was negative. Chloe is a very respectable brand and making such a stupid mistake is not that you expect from it, plus as far as i'm concerned Chloe produces plenty of accessories on it's own.
To make a long story short SHAME ON YOU Chloe

Halloween and Lady Gaga

Yesterday I was reading the blogs and guess what, I found 3 articles about the make-up tips and costumes for halloween, and the name "Lady Gaga" appeared in all these articles. Everybody knows that Lady Gaga became a fashion icon with Alexander McQueen' s dresses in her music videos. So I suppose for this halloween, Lady Gaga style is the first choice for many people.

For the Celeb-Wannabe:
Lady Gaga: This one's sure to be everywhere this year — you'll be able to find a huge variety of Gaga costumes, not to mention all the wigs, masks, and jewelry she's inspired. Just check
the Gaga page at Ricky's for a few ideas. (MARIE CLAIRE)

Gena: Justin Bieber to launch his own nail polish line!! Shoot me..

ITS TRUE!

"The 16-year-old singer has partnered with Nicole by OPI to design a collection of nail polishes inspired by his hit songs. Available exclusively at Wal-Mart starting in December, Bieber's collection of primary color polishes have names like One Less Lonely Girl (lavender), Me + Blue (dark blue) and OMB! (bright red).
Bieber's first six shades will debut in December, while eight others will hit stores in January.

The teen star, set to release his first book, "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story," on Oct. 12, will also star in a 3-D movie about his life, due next year."

-- Ok... so my thoughts are "WHAT THE HELL?" this is the lamest thing I have seen someone do in such a long time. Justin Bieber should not be ripping off little girls and stealing their lunch money by selling them... NAILPOLISH! He can't even wear it himself... unless of course he likes that sort of thing. I am disgusted by this scam hahaha and it makes me hate the kid even 20 times more than I already did!

What do you guys think? Should Justin Bieber create a product that he will never wear just to gain a few more bucks off little girls? Lets all be enraged about it!

Britney for Candie's

Pop princess Britney Spears is joining the growing club of celebrities-turned-designers, launching her own fashion collection that targets the schoolgirl crowd.

Spears, 28, has designed her first collection of clothing and accessories for the Iconix Brand Group Inc's Candie's brand for which she has been the face for the past three seasons.
The juniors' collection, called "Britney for Candie's," will be sold exclusively in Kohl's Department stories from July 1 to kick off the back-to-school season.
"Designing was a really fun, new way for me to express my creativity and I really wanted to create something by me for my fans," Spears said in a statement.
She said the collection, inspired by her favorite music and movies, as a mixture of day and evening looks, ranging from jeans to little black dresses.
A print and television advertising campaign to promote the line features the tagline: "Designed by me for you!"
Spears earlier this year ended a world tour to support her 2008 album "Circus" which was widely regarded as her comeback after a public meltdown when the singer lost custody of her two children, did stints in rehab and shaved her head.
She rocketed to fame as a teenager 10 years ago with hits like "Baby One More Time" and is still one of the best-known celebrities in the world.

Lookchoup : (am I the first one here? grrr so nervous)
well...actually it's not the latest news but here's what I wanna talk about. First time I saw this collection I was like...ARE U KIDDING ME BRITNEY? it's not really outstanding and beautiful~ (at least in my point of view) It's nice but also so plain. and you know if we compare to the other celebrities co-designers (of course not Lindsay Lohan LOL) I don't think her work is a masterpieces. And when I saw the photoshoot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srGgUh5ks1E&feature=related) I kinda doubt that...what the parents would think about her like...for after all she's been through and did it's not really nice don't you agree? The image of this line is kinda sweet...so barbie! but it's Britney! Britney with the pole. Britney with nth but the lingeries. Britney who was kissing Madonna. BRITNEY! It's weird when I look at her and find out that the image is just not right. All those PINK stuffs can't fool me.

But don't get me wrong...I love Britney! (she's insane but she's still my favorite)
so what you guys think? Does it really affect the brand with her past running behind? Or it's just a new beginning that everyone will understand and gives her a second chance? For me I'm ready to give her one but how about the parents who are not so sure about "Britney my idol" theory for theirs young teenage kids. Which is obviously her target customers...isn't it? :O (I'm really not good at merchandising LOL)

Thank you you guys! I did my best grrrrr :'(
